Omahas Abercrombie and Fitch chain store will close its door on feb 2 2008. The company has invested in a brand new canoe store less than five minutes up the street at the Westroads Mall. The new canoe store will open on January 31 and most if not all of the associates will transfer there. There is also a Abercrombie Kids ( the first in nebraska ) being built at the Westroads. The adult at One Pacific has been a staple of old omaha money for a very long time. Hunting and camping gear was sold there and the original plaid carpet, light woodwork, and open floorplan still exists. It will be missed!

Re: Another chain store bites the dust
Sat, January 26, 2008 - 4:46 PMI think the last chain store in the company now is The Atrium, right outside Boston. Unless there is another one hiding out somewhere.? -

Re: Another chain store bites the dust
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 8:02 PMThere IS another chain store out there...or at leat there WAS until 3 weeks ago....Abercrombie & Fitch Store 608/Lynnhaven Mall Virginia Beach, Virginia closed May 17, 2008. I worked there since 2006 as a model, EVERYTHING was original...and beat up, lol. The plaid carpet, striped wallpaper, tables, closets, fixtures and even the sound system had all been there since it opened in April 1995. They sold DAMAGES in the "back room" aka canoe room/register area but the company stopped in 2005. The only thing that was added were potted palm trees and the new form bases found in canoe stores. The only thing that was removed were the antler chandlers, I was told they were taken down in 2005. The lights were bright, not all plugged up and dim like in canoe stores. and the stock room was even set up different, complete with a BREAK TABLE and vending machines! No rolley bays, there was even a seperate office with a LOW desk and chair. A Hollister opened up January 31st in our mall, but we were told that we were closing because of the company downsizing A&F stores, the next one is in Norfolk, VA, an upscale mall 10 miles away with no kids store or hco. The rest of the companies stores are dotted randomly in small suburbia areas, Richmond (two hrs) and DC metro area (3 hrs).
