most likely your gong to have to work your way up. unless you want to be in loss prevention. but if you want to be a regional or district manager you HAVE to work your way up. you have to start as a m.i.t (manager in training) and you have to be really good at the job and recruit 2 other m.i.t's before your promoted to peoples manager visual manager or assistant. then you get store manager then general manager then dm which is home office and from dm you can go to rm. but it will take a while and you have to do alot. its not worth it. the company is shitty and they pay really bad. you can be a manager at american eagle aeropostale buckle or where ever so long as you have experience but at A&f you have to have a degree and you get paid 12 dollars and hour and you have to work 50 hours a week but after 40 you get half time NOT time in a half

odds are if you don't work your way up, and you're near 30 you wont get the job....Mike Jefferies is strict on age and looks...basically home office looks like a real college campus...i really don't get him...but i don't get most geniuses...lol

you have to work your way up. unless your interested in lost prevention. i'm a model, and i work with a girl whose been in the company for 5 or 6 years as a model getting her bachelors before she can even be a manager even though she could probably manage our store better than our managers we have now. and manager would be the steps away from working at home office. however, you could probably work in 3 room at homeoffice without a degree. however, i'm not too sure how much money is in that...or your age and what exactly you were looking for. from what i hear jefferies is very picky about what he wants also so if you dont fit the look don't waste your time..plus all my managers hate it b/c it doesnt pay much and you only get half of your regular pay when your over 40 hours a week. whereas most companies would do time and a half abercrombie & fitch cuts your pay in half. hope this helps :)

Actually, A&F has done away with this process, it's now:

1.) If your an associate (no degree) and want to work at A&F, it is smarter to apply as an impacter, the pay is the same as an associate but policy says you can work more hours than a model. If you work there long enough, you can apply for Lead Impacter which they get paid 12.50 p/hr and med benefits and you get to make your own schedule, AND you get at least 40 hrs a week.

2.) If your professional (degree) and want to work within the company, and move up into home office or abroad, you become and M.I.T (manager in training) for 6 months, then from there you go through the managerial ranking process (i.e. Peoples, Impact, Visual, Store) which sounds long but it all depends on your area. So if your store already has those then when your done with the M.I.T program you just become and assistant manager with same privileges. You become Peoples first, probably for a few months (1-2) then get moved to another store with an opening for an Impact manager, and so on and so forth till you become store manager, which you hold for at least 6 months and are on salary. You can ask to be transferred to flagship store (Fifth Ave. NYC) and go internationally to open a store in Europe, Asia, South America, which they pay generously with the move and car, and decent living.

The unflattering part about being a manger is that your DM can move you to any store in your city and you don't have a choice, you can't say no, though in a way you should consider it a promotion to being closer to store manager.

Here's the ranking in this order.:
Associate, Impacter, Lead Impacter, M.I.T, Assistant Manager, Peoples Manager, Impact Manager, Visual Manager, Store Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager.
*Any higher is not very possible unless you put in numerous months and years, and have flashy degrees.
*The higher the ranking the more scarce it's availability.

Like mentioned from a couple people on here, if you have a degree in anything you can still be a manager. (A business degree mostly helps the understanding of the company aspects.) If you have a degree(s) or masters in a specific field and want to go in with ranking, typing in A&F Careers in google or yahoo, it will take you to there homepage where you can submit your resume to open salary holding positions within the company.
*They are always accepting applications. (I hate that corny line but it's true)
*Finally the finishing not so flattering point is that ranking or salary holding positions starting from regional manager and up are based at home office which is located in MN, MO.

      Hope I helped.
